The Census Bureau has submitted for Office of Management and Budget review a request to renew its information collection authority for the Automated Export System (AES), extending clearance for ACE AESDirect record formats and related documentation, including exporter account applications, certification statements, and user guides.
The filing seeks continued clearance of the AES program, which underpins mandatory Electronic Export Information reporting and supports official U.S. export statistics and export-control enforcement.
As part of the submission, Census said it intends to issue a forthcoming Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to add a conditional data element requiring disclosure of country of origin for foreign-origin commodities. The bureau also indicated it will address prior concerns about duplicative data elements in a future rulemaking
