BIS Extends Chemical Weapons Comment Period

Public comments were previously requested via the Federal Register on August 28, 2024, during a 60-day comment period. This notice allows for an additional 30 days for public comments.

The Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) is a multilateral arms control treaty that seeks to achieve an international ban on chemical weapons (CW). The CWC prohibits, the use, development, production, acquisition, stockpiling, retention, and direct or indirect transfer of chemical weapons.

The US Trade Representative’s Office is gearing up for its 2025 Section 301 review to identify countries that deny adequate and effective protection of intellectual property rights or deny fair and equitable market access. USTR is seeking public comments on that identify acts, policies, or practices that may form the basis of a country’s identification as a Priority Foreign Country or placement on the Priority Watch List or Watch List.
