Industry Attempts to Head Off China Sanctions Bill

No longer worried about excessive computer restrictions or encryption embargoes, U.S. industry is sending all its troops to Capitol Hill in an attempt to scupper a bill by Sen. Fred Thompson (R-Tenn.) to impose sanctions on China and other countries that promote that proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. U.S. exporters say the measures will be ineffective and will server only to harm them--not their competitors.
