NEW TRIALS ORDERED FOR DEFENDANTS CONVICTED FOR ILLEGAL SALES TO CUBA

In a stunning blow to federal prosecutors, a federal judge recently reversed the convictions and ordered a new trial for American and Canadian defendants who were found guilty of selling water purification products to Cuba. The defendants were charged with violating the Trading With the Enemy Act (TWEA) and the Cuban Assets Control Regulations (CACRs).
