TAC Meetings Scheduled, Public Access Throttled

Despite a top-down policy of discouraging public participation in the policymaking process, the Technical Advisory Committees at BIS continue to schedule meetings, albeit with sharply limited slots for public access.

September 9 RAPTAC Meeting

The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) will convene the Regulations and Procedures Technical Advisory Committee (RPTAC) on September 9, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. ET.

  • Public Access: The open session will last only 15 minutes (9:00–9:15 a.m.) and will be accessible via teleconference.

  • Closed Session: Beginning at 9:15 a.m., the remainder of the meeting will be closed to the public to permit discussion of sensitive technical and policy matters exempt under the Federal Advisory Committee Act and Government in the Sunshine Act.

September 10 TRANSTAC Meeting

BIS) will convene the Transportation and Related Equipment Technical Advisory Committee (TRANSTAC) on September 10, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET.

  • Public Access: The open session will run for 45 minutes (9:30–10:15 a.m.) and will be accessible via teleconference.

  • Closed Session: Beginning at 10:30 a.m., the remainder of the meeting will be closed to the public for discussions of sensitive technical and policy matters exempt under the Federal Advisory Committee Act and the Government in the Sunshine Act.

Individuals wishing to attend virtually must register for the RAPTAC by September 4, 2025 and TRANSTAC by September 5, 2025, via TAC@bis.doc.gov. 

Meeting materials from the open session will be posted at https://tac.bis.doc.gov within 30 days.
